		<description>To answer to your confusion about why Hester doesn't leave town, it's because she accepts her punishment and feels that she did something wrong and that God has a right to punish her. Even if she leaves town, she feels guilty about what she did and thinks she deserves to suffer a bit. She also sometimes believes that Pearl is God's punishment. Pearl's behavior is very interesting at times because it seems that she know what's going on with the scarlet letter that her mom has to wear. Also, she can act in a very sweet manner toward Hester, and then mock her in some way.</description>
